FAQs: Are Webers “better” than Spica Fuel Injection?

Our belief on fuel injection is “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” On a stock engine, Weber carburetors and Spica fuel injection will produce about the same power. The Webers will have better throttle response because they have an accelerator pump. The Spica will run smoother, get better gas mileage, and pollute less. If the Spica injection pump is worn out, consider our European Weber conversion. There are several advantages to replacing a worn Spica pump with Webers. Webers don’t wear out and with an occasional rebuild will last forever. Webers also have the potential for more horsepower because they can be jetted to match any state of tune. And once set up properly, they are extremely reliable. Besides, who can resist the throaty growl of dual Webers on an Alfa twin-cam engine?
